Surfing Africa

Surf in Zanzibar

Surfing in Zanzibar is a relatively new thing but it’s becoming increasingly popular – not so much with the locals but more with foreign visitors. The best place for surfing here is on the southern shores of the main island. The waves vary here and range from beginner to more experienced. A word of caution though is that there aren’t lifeguards here so one should be careful and never go alone. There’s a wide range of other watersport activities available here too other than surfing.

When to Visit Zanzibar

Zanzibar is situated in the tropics so the weather is hot all year round. There are two peak seasons here and it depends on which you prefer. If you like extremely hot weather then the best time to go would be December, January and February. If you prefer slightly cooler weather, although slightly then you should head here during June to October. The rest of the year brings a tremendous amount of rain so it’s best to avoid unless you want to be stuck indoors during your Zanzibar vacation.
